A few weeks back, I was hanging out with a fleet of senior citizens. I thoroughly observed their body language, talks, and conversations. Although RICH, most of them were just passing time, tired in their lives and bored due to having no work and kids abroad.
It struck me hard that the most important thing to lead a happy and content life is having a strong “PURPOSE.” It can be any activity or hobby, might be profitable or non-profitable, it doesn’t matter. Something which keeps us excited, keeps us alive, keeps us charged. Something which we truly care for and feel about. Something which we are never bored talking about. Something where we ask the question, How can I do it? rather than When/IF/Why to do it? Something for which we don’t require any external motivation; something where, despite multiple failures, we want to keep trying and be hopeful about.
I feel so lucky to find one – for me, it’s reading and researching diverse topics, exploring, talking to people, and creating content out of it along with a strong passion for teaching and presenting my learnings to the audience. There are so many topics I want to cover, that honestly, at times I feel 24 hours are less.
Chasing money is absolutely necessary in youth, but finding a purpose where we discover happiness and contentment should not be forgotten in that pursuit.
Have you found yours?
