64.5% in 12th Std with 44 Marks in Maths to 99.87 %ile in CAT
As part of my Decentralised Success Stories meet my friend Gaurav K. Mishra, FRM
He comes from a small town, Deoria in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
During his childhood he was not academically successful.
He scored 76% in 10th, 65% in 12th with just 44 marks in Maths.
He then completed B-Tech and decided to take the MBA-CAT exam.
Despite all odds, in his First attempt, he scored 98.18 %ile
But because of his average academic scores, he didn’t make it to the top 10 B-Schools.
Second attempt, he scored just 95.11 %ile
Many would have quit here.
Down but not out he took CAT for the third time and scored a whopping 99.87 %ile.
What an inspiring story, From 64% in 12th and 44 in Maths to among the top 500 people in CAT!
He finally made it to Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
But he didn’t stop there:
✔ FRM Charterholder
✔ Cleared 2 levels of CFA
✔ Worked at ICICI Bank (Treasury) and EY (Valuations)
✔ Multiple Big4 offers in hand
And yet, he quit the corporate career.
Today, he mentors CAT aspirants and works as a freelance consultant.
He has also helped startups and successfully raised ~$1 Mn USD for a firm.
Gaurav, your story truly inspired me when I heard it first at our Delhi Cyber City Meet.
You are what I call a Decentralised Success Story.
