Rejection Is Part of the Journey to Success—Here’s My Story

In 2024, when I was working at EY, I received an interview opportunity with Sony Music for a M&A Investment Analyst role. I did not clear it. I was rejected. I failed. I’m sharing this openly because rejection is a pattern every one of us goes through. It does not matter whether it is a job interview, a dating experience, a sales call, or even the search for a house on rent. We try, we hope, and many times the answer is still no.

Some of you may look at my career today and feel that I am in a successful spot. Yes, I truly am grateful for where I am. But I can say with complete honesty that I have faced more rejections than most people assume. I have simply kept trying.

In life we attempt 10 things. Most probably 8 do not work. 2 do. The part that matters is that we never know which 2 will change our life. So the only practical approach is to continue taking 8 eight shots that may not land. Because the ninth and the tenth often arrive as genuine opportunities for growth.
